President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering meaningful change and progress across Nigeria, stating that his primary goal is to work for the country and not for personal financial gain.

During a meeting with the Forum of Former Presiding Officers of the National Assembly, Tinubu expressed his dedication to improving key sectors such as education and ensuring long-term economic stability.

“I didn’t come to look for money and exploit the situation; I came to work. I asked for the votes, and Nigerians gave them to me,” the president said. He went on to stress the importance of collaboration, inclusiveness, and sound financial planning, referencing successful models from developed countries.

Acknowledging the hardships many Nigerians face, Tinubu reflected on past missteps, particularly the failure to invest in communities and education during periods of high crude production. “We neglected our communities, the goose that lays the golden eggs and forgot even to give them a good standard of living. We forgot to educate our children,” he remarked, criticizing the dilapidated state of schools and low school enrollment rates.

The president vowed to work towards addressing these issues, ensuring that the future generation has access to a decent education environment and a better standard of living. “We have come a long way, and I promise we must do our best,” Tinubu concluded.
