The average diesel price in Nigeria rose by 1.93% in August 2024, hitting N1,406.05 per liter, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This comes as local marketers reportedly boycott Dangote Refinery’s lower-priced diesel products, further straining supply.

Despite a price drop in July, diesel prices rebounded in August, driven by the ongoing standoff. Year-on-year, the cost of diesel jumped by 64.58% from N854.32 in August 2023. Northern states like Kaduna and Bauchi recorded the highest prices, while Lagos and Ogun posted the lowest.
