In a shocking new report by FIJ (Foundation for Investigative Journalism), it has been revealed that Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, only spent three weeks in Kirikiri Correctional Centre despite being sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse in April.

This revelation comes amid ongoing controversy after social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released an audio recording earlier this week. In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly confessed to bribing officials to secure favorable treatment during her imprisonment, including paying N15 million to have money laundering charges dropped by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to FIJ, sources within the Nigerian Correctional Service confirmed that Bobrisky was briefly incarcerated at Kirikiri but was moved after just three weeks. One prison official disclosed that the crossdresser was transferred to an undisclosed location under an arrangement that involved money.

“Bobrisky was here for only three weeks before he was taken out. It was an ‘arrangee’ thing, and money was involved,” the official told FIJ. The source also claimed that Bobrisky received VIP treatment at Kirikiri, living in a special cell and guarded like a high-profile figure until her quiet removal.

While Bobrisky’s official release from prison occurred in August, these new claims have renewed attention to corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service. In response, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has called for an “unconditional and comprehensive investigation” into the alleged bribery and corruption involving prison officials.

As the investigation progresses, these revelations have sparked a public outcry, with many calling for greater accountability within the justice system.
