Social media influencer Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly apologized to renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, for disparaging remarks about the senior advocate in light of recent allegations. The apology came during his appearance before the House of Representatives on Monday, September 30.

In his statement, VeryDarkMan expressed regret for his comments and emphasized that he does not believe Falana was involved in the alleged N15 million bribery associated with Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigeria Correctional Service.

“Apparently, some people are taking advantage of the situation to target Femi Falana,” he stated. “I’d like to say here and now that I apologize to him. It’s so sad that his name was mentioned in that audio. I couldn’t believe it either; that is what irritated me the most. I refuse to believe that he is a party to something like that.”

The controversy began when VeryDarkMan’s comments surfaced online, sparking outrage and debate among his followers and the legal community. His apology marks an attempt to clarify his position and distance Falana from the bribery allegations that have been circulating.

Falana, known for his advocacy for human rights and social justice, has not publicly responded to VeryDarkMan’s apology at this time. However, the incident highlights the challenges public figures face in navigating the complex landscape of social media and the often unsubstantiated rumors that can arise from it.
