The Lagos State Government has called on its youths to enroll in the Nigerian military. Mrs. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Secretary to the State Government, appealed during a quarterly meeting with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ikeja on Wednesday.

Salu-Hundeyin stressed that national security is everyone’s responsibility and highlighted the importance of military service as a vital contribution to both the state and the nation. She expressed concern over the low enrollment of Lagosian youths in the military, particularly following the last recruitment exercise.

She revealed that the Federal Government allocates 150 recruitment slots to each state, but Lagos has been underrepresented. “We discovered that in the military in Nigeria, Lagos State has been seriously short-changed. We hardly have people there,” she said, urging more Indigenous youths to seize this opportunity to serve.

Salu-Hundeyin emphasized that security should not be the duty of one group alone, and encouraged Lagosians to consider military service for the benefit of their state and the nation.
