Lagos State is doubling its commitment to gender equity and women’s rights, as First Lady Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu highlighted the state government’s unwavering focus on empowering women across all levels of society.
Speaking at the inaugural Lagos-West Women Assembly held in Ikeja, Dr. Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is proud to champion a future where female leadership, collaboration, and economic empowerment are at the forefront.
“We are witnessing a powerful wave of women leading change — from the grassroots to the corridors of power,” she said, addressing a packed audience of trailblazing women.
The event, hosted by Senator Idiat Adebule, who represents Lagos West, brought together women across the senatorial district for a day focused on personal development, nation-building, and shared visions for a more inclusive society.
Several notable figures were also in attendance, including the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Remi Hamzat; former Deputy Governors Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and Mrs. Sarah Adebisi Sosan; and APC Lagos Woman Leader, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, and former Assemblymember Hon. Funmi Tejuosho.
The event served as both a celebration of female leadership and a call to action for increased inclusion and support for women’s rights, reinforcing Lagos’ role as a progressive state that actively uplifts and protects its women.
