Panic broke out in Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday after an explosion rocked a CCTV equipment shop along Kodesho Street ikeja.

Kedosho street is a popular street in the bustling Computer Village with lot of shops selling variety of electronics gadgets.

The blast left five people injured, with victims either inside the store or nearby at the time of the incident. All five have since been taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for treatment.

Following the explosion, the Lagos State Police Command deployed officers from its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, alongside Mobile Police and patrol teams, to secure the area and nearby buildings.

In a statement, Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development, noting that the EOD team had conducted a full sweep and secured the site.

Lagos Commissioner of Police, Owohunwa Olaleye, also visited the scene to assess the situation and reassured residents that the area has been declared safe. He encouraged the public to stay calm as investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion and any possible negligence or contributing factors.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper safety measures when handling electronic equipment. More updates are expected as authorities continue to probe the cause of the blast.
