The Lagos State Government has launched a bold 20-year development plan (2024–2044) designed to transform Ibeju-Lekki into a thriving, globally competitive urban centre.

The ambitious plan was announced on Friday by Oluyinka Olumide, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, during a final stakeholder meeting held at the Lekki LCDA Secretariat.
The Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan sets out to drive major growth across tourism, housing, agriculture, and industrial development, aiming to boost economic activities and significantly enhance the quality of life for residents.
Olumide described the initiative as a pivotal milestone in Lagos’ long-term strategy to elevate Ibeju-Lekki—already a rapidly developing corridor—as a central player in the state’s economic future.
He noted that the session was convened to finalize and ratify the plan’s provisions, ensuring input from key stakeholders before its full implementation.
