President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State. Tinubu hailed the win as a reflection of the people’s support for the ruling party’s progressive ideals and economic reforms.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday, President Tinubu emphasized that the victory showcases the public’s endorsement of the APC’s economic reengineering efforts aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians. He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free and fair election, urging those dissatisfied with the outcome to seek legal recourse.
“The victory testifies to the people’s support for the ruling party, its economic reengineering program, and its commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians,” Tinubu said.
The president advised Senator Okpebholo to remain humble in victory and to reach out to political rivals in the spirit of unity, focusing on the development of Edo State. He also lauded other candidates for their roles in promoting democracy and praised the peaceful nature of the election as a sign of Nigeria’s democratic maturity.
President Tinubu further commended INEC and security agencies for their dedication in ensuring a successful, peaceful, and largely hitch-free electoral process.
