Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has expressed concerns over the widespread corruption in Nigeria. Speaking in Kano on Sunday, he highlighted the lack of effective laws to combat corruption, stating, “Our major challenge in this country is corruption. In developed nations, people question the source of one’s wealth, but in Nigeria, you are celebrated for flaunting ill-gotten wealth.”
Ndume criticized the system, noting that despite numerous attempts to pass laws addressing unexplained wealth, they have failed. He revealed that a former president had declined his request to sign an Executive Bill targeting the issue. Ndume lamented, “It is only in Nigeria that you st£al money and walk freely, and then you are celebrated.”
