The tragic death of Adetunji “Teejay” Opayele, Co-founder and CTO of Bumpa, has sparked outrage, with family, friends, and the public demanding justice.

On March 4, 2025, Teejay was riding home on his power bike after a workout at iFitness gym, Victoria Island, Lagos, when a driver, Biola Adams-Odutayo, allegedly merged onto Ozumba Mbadiwe Road without yielding, crashing into him.

Despite wearing full protective gear, Teejay was left unconscious. Shockingly, witnesses claim Biola, a healthcare professional, refused to check on him, allegedly saying she didn’t want blood to stain her car. Instead, she stayed on a phone call for over 30 minutes, ignoring bystanders’ pleas for help.

Teejay was rushed to two hospitals, both of which refused to admit him. Rescuers had to force Biola to accompany them to another hospital to prevent further delays, but by the time they arrived, Teejay was pronounced dead.

Since the accident, Biola has allegedly used her connections to avoid facing serious legal consequences. She was detained for just one night and charged only with reckless driving—despite public outrage. Released on ₦1 million bail, she reportedly failed to appear at a police summons on March 17, fueling accusations of a cover-up.

Teejay’s family is now calling for manslaughter charges, urging the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Inspector General of Police, and Lagos State Commissioner of Police to ensure a fair and transparent legal process.

The public is encouraged to share Teejay’s story and provide any relevant information from the accident scene. Justice must be served. #JusticeForTeejay
