The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Moshood, has urged residents to ignore viral reports about a kidnapping incident in Gbagada, labeling it as false and recycled misinformation.
In an official statement, the Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed that the widely circulated kidnapping advisory is unfounded and has been repeatedly debunked in the past.
To curb the spread of misinformation, CP Jimoh has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of individuals spreading fake news that could incite panic among Lagosians.
The police emphasized their commitment to public safety and urged residents to rely on verified sources for credible information. They also encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities through official channels rather than fueling unverified social media rumors.
Lagosians are advised to remain calm and security-conscious while the police continue to ensure the safety of all residents.
