Human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, rapper Falz, have demanded a public apology from crossdresser Bobrisky. They seek a retraction of alleged defamatory statements he made about them. This follows audio recordings in which Bobrisky accused the Falanas of involvement in bribery and a pardon.

The ultimatum was formalized in a letter dated October 14, 2024, and signed by attorneys Olorunfemi Akinyemi, Esq., and Taiwo E. Olawanle, Esq., from Falana and Falana’s Chambers. The letter details serious allegations against Bobrisky, accusing him of leveraging his recent imprisonment to extort money from various artists and members of the public.

According to the letter, Bobrisky contacted Falz on May 4, 2024, requesting a loan of N3,000,000 to secure a preferential position in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. Following Falz’s refusal to assist, Bobrisky allegedly claimed in a video that he had been assured by Falz that his father would write a letter of pardon on his behalf. He further asserted that N10,000,000 was needed to bribe officials for this pardon.

In subsequent videos, Bobrisky claimed to have paid N5,000,000 upfront to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria for assistance in securing a federal pardon related to charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He alleged that the lawyer initially quoted a fee of N10,000,000 for his services, but due to Bobrisky’s frozen bank accounts, he was unable to pay the full amount.

The Falanas are demanding that Bobrisky issue a public apology and retract his statements within 12 hours of receiving the letter, warning that failure to comply may lead to legal action for defamation. This situation highlights the ongoing tensions in the Nigerian entertainment industry, where public statements can quickly escalate into serious legal disputes.
