The Nigerian Army has discharged Private Ruth Ogunleye after she accused Colonel I.B. Abdulkareem and two other senior officers of sexual harassment and intimidation. Ogunleye claimed on social media that Colonel Abdulkareem made repeated advances, administered injections without her consent, evicted her from her residence, and confined her to a psychiatric facility when she rejected his advances.

In response to her allegations, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja ordered an investigation. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, stated that a thorough review found no evidence to support Ogunleye’s claims, leading to her discharge.
