Former Super Eagles coach, Finidi George, has revealed that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has not apologized for his outburst on social media, which disrespected him. Finidi, now the head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United, stated that despite reaching out to Osimhen to resolve the issue, he has yet to receive an apology.

The incident dates back to when Osimhen lashed out on Instagram after a report claimed that Finidi had questioned the forward’s commitment to the national team following his absence in World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and the Benin Republic. Osimhen had missed the games due to an injury, but rumors circulated that Finidi felt the player could have featured in at least one of the matches.

Although there were calls for Osimhen to apologize and even potential talks of suspension, Finidi clarified that he hasn’t heard from the player since. “I sent him a message… From that point, I didn’t hear from him,” Finidi said in an interview with Nigeria Info FM, adding that he has moved on and wishes everyone well. When asked about Osimhen’s potential ban from the national team, Finidi remarked, “He is there already. Let him be.”
