Adeolu Adeboye, son of the esteemed General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, is at the center of a legal storm after reportedly abandoning a multi-billion naira road project in Kaduna State. According to a report by SaharaReporters, the Kaduna State Government gave Adeolu over N8 billion to execute the project, but he left it incomplete after finishing only 30% of the work.

Ronchess Global Resources Plc—a company linked to Adeolu Adeboye and his wife—received the contract for an 8km road project in the Zaria area, specifically between Wusasa and Danmagaji Nagoyi, during the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Initially set at N8.74 billion, the contract had a completion date of January 2, 2021. However, on December 6, 2022, the contract sum was revised to N17.26 billion, yet the project remains unfinished.

The Kaduna State Government, alongside the State House of Assembly, initiated a probe into the alleged mismanagement of funds and the abandoned project. In response, Adeolu Adeboye reportedly filed a lawsuit (FHC/L/CS/1206/24) at the Federal High Court in Lagos. He is seeking an injunction to prevent the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Kaduna State Government, and the House of Assembly from arresting or detaining him over the abandoned project.

The lawsuit names several respondents, including the EFCC, the Inspector General of Police, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, and the Kaduna State Government, as well as the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

On May 16, 2024, at 4:47 pm, a team from the Kaduna State House of Assembly inspected the project site and confirmed that workers had halted the project. Despite the government disbursing N8.195 billion for the road, the contractors had only completed 30% of the project before abandoning it. The findings have intensified scrutiny and calls for accountability.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about the management of public funds and the completion of infrastructure projects in Nigeria. As Adeolu Adeboye faces legal challenges, the public and stakeholders are closely watching how this high-profile case unfolds, with significant implications for both the Adeboye family and the government officials involved.
