Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has emphasized that Nigeria could experience a revival if churches in the country prioritize preaching hard work over prosperity.

Speaking at the 68th Anniversary and 58th Annual Convention of The Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT) over the weekend, Osinbajo criticized the current trend in Nigerian churches, which he says has shifted its focus from promoting diligence to emphasizing material wealth.

Osinbajo stated, “For too long, our churches have been caught up in the pursuit of personal prosperity and material wealth, neglecting the true calling of the gospel to promote peace, unity, and the holistic development of our society. If we truly want to see Nigeria rise again and fulfill its immense potential, the church must return to its roots, preaching the values of hard work, compassion, and service to the community.”

He argued that a shift from the prosperity gospel to a focus on hard work and community service could help inspire Nigerians to become agents of positive change rather than just consumers of the prosperity message.
