Nigerian singer and comedian, Speed Darlington, has been released on bail after his recent arrest following a petition filed by fellow musician Burna Boy, accusing him of cyberstalking. Darlington, whose real name is Darlington Okoye, was detained by the police at the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Guzape, Abuja, after being arrested in Lagos.

The arrest, which took place last Friday, followed allegations made by Burna Boy in a formal complaint. However, lawyer Deji Adeyanju, who has been representing Darlington, claimed that the petition did not contain enough grounds to warrant the musician’s detention.

Darlington’s release was secured after meeting the bail conditions, with Adeyanju confirming that his client was in good spirits. Adeyanju had previously reviewed the petition but was not allowed to take a copy. Despite the controversy, Darlington’s mother, known as Queen, had earlier expressed her desperation in a video plea, where she accused Burna Boy’s team of being responsible for her son’s disappearance.

With Darlington now released, the case continues to generate significant attention online.
