Tobi The Creator, best friend of popular crossdresser James Brown, has publicly declared their identity as a woman in an interview with media personality Chude. The content creator shared their thoughts on gender and identity, saying, “I am a woman, but I’m not sure if I was born a woman previously or if I came back into a man’s body and became a man.”
Tobi explained their identity as a nonbinary person, expressing that they embody dual aspects of gender. They also differentiated between various gender expressions, highlighting distinctions between James Brown as a drag queen and Bobrisky as a crossdresser. “There’s a big difference,” Tobi emphasized, adding that more education is needed in Nigeria to inform students about these concepts.
Clarifying the role of “cross entertaining,” Tobi noted, “Cross entertaining means I am doing what I am doing to entertain my audience,” offering insight into the complexities of their identity and performance.
