Despite a valiant effort in the fourth quarter, where D’Tigress outscored the US team 26-12, it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit from the previous three quarters.
This loss marks the end of a historic run for D’Tigress, who exited the tournament as the first African team ever to reach the quarterfinals of the Olympic basketball competition.
The defeat comes just hours after Nigeria’s Assistant Coach, Aisha Mohammed, confidently predicted that D’Tigress would send the USA home in an interview with newsmen. Despite the loss, D’Tigress’s remarkable performance in Paris solidified their place in African basketball history.
