Vice President Kashim Shettima has summoned Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), and Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to address the recent surge in petrol prices.

The meeting, held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the State House, Abuja, was convened on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, who is on an official visit to China. Also present was National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

This follows NNPCL’s decision to increase petrol pump prices from ₦568 to between ₦855 and ₦897 per liter, exacerbating fuel scarcity and adding to the nation’s ongoing economic challenges.
