Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to stand by President Bola Tinubu as he navigates the nation through its socio-political, economic, and security challenges. Speaking at a book launch in Abuja on Thursday, Shettima highlighted the President’s modest lifestyle, revealing that Tinubu has been using the same wristwatch since they first met and that there is nothing extraordinary about Tinubu’s residence in Bourdillon, Lagos.

Shettima, who was joined by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande, shared his surprise when he first visited Tinubu’s Bourdillon house, expecting a mansion akin to Buckingham Palace. However, he noted that his own house in Maiduguri was more impressive, emphasizing that Tinubu was not in power to accumulate wealth but to make a lasting impact on Nigeria.

“In President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we have a leader that we can invest our trust in,” Shettima stated. “I’m not playing politics; I’m speaking from the heart. I have seen the soul of Bola Tinubu, and he has a good soul. He means well for the nation. He is not in power to engage in primitive capital accumulation but to leave landmarks in the sands of time.”

The Vice President called on Nigerians to focus on finding solutions to the country’s core challenges rather than dwelling on past or present difficulties. He assured that the benefits of the tough measures being implemented by the Tinubu administration will soon be evident.
